Janice Alberts

Janice Alberts

July 5, 1931 ~ October 30, 2024

Janice Alberts was born July 5, 1931, in Saronville and died peacefully Oct. 30 surrounded by her family at the Aurora Community Health facility in Aurora.

Janice grew up in the Sutton and Saronville communities. She married Leland Alberts Dec. 23, 1946. Together they had nine children and lived on a couple of different farms around these same communities. She was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother, wonderful cook, and managed many of the responsibilities of a farm while keeping the safety and health of her children and grandchildren a priority. Her grandchildren visited the farm often and they were filled with memories that will last a lifetime. She enjoyed her garden and would oftentimes take a salt shaker out with her so she could eat the freshest tomatoes possible. She was a true homebody and was not a fan of traveling. She once said on a trip to Colorado, and a ride up to Estes Park, when another friend commented on how beautiful a certain tree was, “oh once you’ve seen one tree, you’ve seen them all.” She did not hesitate to tell you what she was thinking so you always knew where you stood with her and how she felt about things.

She is survived by her children: Steven (Barb) Alberts, James (Chris) Alberts, Donald (Phyllis) Alberts, Cheryl (Scott) Mackenzie, Thomas (Lorie) Alberts, and Patrick (Jackie) Alberts; grandchildren: Gregory and Amy Alberts, Phillip Alberts and Lauren Rhode, Katelyn Mahoney and Ian Mackenzie, and Isaac and Alika Alberts; great-grandchildren: Ellie, Ben, Jack, Lily, Connor, Miles, and Nico. She was one of 10 children and was the last surviving family member of the Lohmeier family.

Janice was preceded in death by her infant sons, Kenneth and Gerald; son, Michael Alberts; and granddaughter, Megan Alberts.

A Memorial Graveside Service for Janice Alberts was Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Calvary Cemetery in Sutton, with Father Mark Seiker presiding. Following the graveside service a lunch and time of fellowship was held at the Fox Hollow Golf Course.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date in Janice’s memory.
