York resident Richard L. Shockey, 82, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at his home in York.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, with Pastor Arick Johanson officiating. Husker and/or casual attire is requested at the service. In honoring his wish to be cremated there will not be a visitation or viewing. Richard was born Aug. 14, 1942, at Newman Grove to Harry G. and Irene E. (Watson) Shockey. He was the third youngest of 10 siblings. He married Doris E. Godtel Feb. 20, 1970, and they were married for 54 years prior to her passing. Richard was employed with George Bros., Biba Construction, and Wynne Transport, retiring in 2005.
Richard was a former member of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed Nebraska Football, reading the newspaper, and doing crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his sister, Linda (Roger) Emmons of Belton, MO; daughter, Tammy Shaw of York; son, Brian (Kim) Shockey of Holmen, WI; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; five brothers and three sisters.
