Bonnie J. Rudy, 81, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, at East Park Villa in Aurora.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Stockham Community Church. Pastor Clayton Kliewer will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Bonnie June Dieckman Rudy, the second child of Merle William and Eleanor Marie (Lindquist) Dieckman was born in rural Hamilton County Nebraska Oct. 2, 1943, and passed away in Aurora Oct. 20, 2024, at the age of 81.
Bonnie attended country school through the fifth grade and then attended Aurora Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1961. Bonnie was baptized at the First Christian Church in Aurora. In May of 1961, Bonnie moved to Denver, CO working for Ritter Insurance Co. She moved back to Aurora in August 1962.
Bonnie married Garry Eugene Rudy Aug. 26, 1962, at the First Christian Church in Aurora. They moved to New Jersey and then back to Aurora in April 1963. In Aurora, Bonnie worked for Cliff’s Studio, First National Bank, Family Physicians, and Aurora Co-op. Bonnie started her own insurance claim business in 1988 through retirement. Garry passed away Oct. 17, 2017. Bonnie moved to East Park Villa in April 2018.
Bonnie enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. In her younger days she rode horses belonging to a saddle club. Garry and Bonnie loved to dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Eleanor Dieckman; husband; sister, Barbara Etter; in-laws, Kenneth and Bonnie N. Rudy, and sister-in-law, Nancy Rudy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Dennis (Kathy) Dieckman of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Kent Rudy of Alma, Don (Connie) Rudy of Aurora, Bill (Gaylene) Rudy of Aurora and Dave Rudy of Giltner; sister-in-law, Barb (Joel) Barnett of Harvard; many nieces and nephews dearly loved by Bonnie and many other family members and friends.
