Sutton resident Susan Jane Akset, 77, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Henderson Health Care Hospital in Henderson.

A private memorial service will be conducted at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with Pastor Brian Weinkauf officiating. In honoring her wish to be cremated, there will not be a visitation or viewing. A book signing was held on Friday, July 5 at the Sutton Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www. suttonmemorial.com. Susan Jane Akset was born April 13, 1947, in South Milwaukee, WI to Wilbur and Betty (Willms) Petzke. Growing up in Caledonia, WI on the family farm with her sisters, Diane and Joann. Sue attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Racine Lutheran High School.

Sue was a member of the former St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sutton and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grafton. As her three boys grew up, she spent many weekends enjoying her time with them and friends at horse shows. In her later years, she was honored to be able to travel the country with her boys to many equestrian events.

She was a devoted mother to her three sons Brian (Patty), Wade and Warren. She was blessed with a granddaughter, Emma; great-grandson, Greysin and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Family was her top priority and she devoted every moment to being with them. One of Sue’s greatest joys was when she became a grandmother to Emma and great-grandmother to Greysin.

Sue’s passions were floral arranging, cake decorating, gardening, bowling, spending time with family and her lifelong friends. To know her was to love her, putting others’ needs above hers brought a smile to her face. Believing in the Lord and putting her complete trust in His guidance and love.

Sue is survived by her son, Brian (Patty), and her twin sons, Wade and Warren; granddaughter, Emma; great-grandson, Greysin; and step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Jim) Schrieber, Joann (Randy) Kroes; nieces, Dawn Schrieber, Nicole (Keith) Olson; nephews, Christopher Schrieber, Kevin (Nancy) Schmidt, Kenneth Schmidt, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Betty Petzke; and great-nephew, Samuel.
