Sutton resident Elaine K. Nuss, 87, passed away Monday, July 8, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 12, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Visitation will be Thursday, from 1-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 7 p.m., with Pastor Carl Gobelman officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www. suttonmemorial.com. Elaine K. Nuss was born May 17, 1937, and after living 87 years she passed away peacefully on July 8. She was born in Henderson to Alvin and Lorene (Griess) Nuss. Elaine attended country school, and she also attended Sutton Public School where she graduated. After graduation, she attended school in Kearney where she received her teaching degree and taught at a country school for two years before getting married.

She married Don Nuss on Dec. 18, 1957. They moved to the home farm where they raised five boys. Elaine and Don moved into town in 1998.

Elaine enjoyed making German food for her family, spending time on walks and spending time with her cousins for get-togethers. She loved spending time with all of her family and grandchildren at holidays and any other time she could spend with them.

Elaine is survived by her son, Warren (Laura) of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Amanda (Brian); Adam (Sarah); Alex (Lisa) and Austin (Mallory); son, Ron (Joni) of Aurora; grandchildren, Mitchell (Tyler) and Riley (Micki); son, Gary (Brenda) of Sutton; grandchildren, Jessica; Jenna and Jaden; son, Tony (Nicki) of Beatrice, NE; grandchildren, Audrey; Katie and Nicholas; son, Daniel of Loveland, CO; brother, Gerald (Sally) Nuss of Sutton; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents, Alvin and Lorene Nuss; father and mother-in-law, Hilmar and Hilda Nuss; sister, Marlene Jackson; sister-in-law, Neomi Nuss; brothers-in-law, Ervin Jackson, Gideon Nuss, Thomas Nuss, Norm Griess, Melvin Griess, and Evon Griess; sisters-in-law, Ruth Griess, Luella Hunzeker, and Leota Nuss; granddaughters, Audrey Nuss; Jessica Nuss; and nephew, Kevin Nuss.
