Sharon K. Jones, 82, of Central City, died Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care Center in Central City. A public visitation will be held at the Central City Cemetery Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. A private family burial of ashes will be held at the Central City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral. com. Sharon was born on Aug. 12, 1941, to Ronald and Rogene (Roark) Howe in Central City. She grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1959. Sharon was then united in marriage to Gary Jones on May 13, 1960, in Hordville. They then made their home in Clay Center, where she worked for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department for several years. They then moved back to Central City where she worked for KZ-100 radio station. Following her retirement, Sharon remained in Central City.
Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polk, and while in Clay Center was a member of the Mrs. CC’s Club for many years. Her greatest love was getting to spend time with her family, especially helping to raise her grandchildren, and later being called “Gigi” by her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, landscaping, and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed animals, especially her several dogs throughout the years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa (John) Rose of Central City and Lani (Stacey) Sawyers of Central City, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She also had two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother.
