Edgar resident Debra Loraine (Neighbors) Stertz, 65, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no local services will be conducted. Condolences may be left at www. suttonmemorial.com Debra was born May 3, 1959, to Archie and Loraine (Thomas) Neighbors in Council Bluffs, IA at Mercy Hospital. Debra attended and graduated from South Page Community High School in College Springs, IA. Later in life, she attended Central Community College, Hastings Campus. She graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts. On June 9, 1982, she married Clark Stertz in Mankato, KS. They lived on a farm north of Edgar where they farmed and raised two daughters, Cai and Deana.

The family attended the United Methodist Church in Clay Center until it closed. They then joined the Edgar Presbyterian Church.

Debra enjoyed living on the farm and helping Clark with all the farming responsibilities. Debra knew no stranger and could start a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids.

Debra is survived by her husband, Clark, of Edgar; daughters Cai (Brett) Powell of Nelson, and Deana Flodman of Grand Island; grandchildren, Reese, Bren, and Luka all of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws.
