Randy D. Tjarks of Edgar, 70, departed this life Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Church of the Plains Presbyterian in Edgar, with Pastor Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Burial was at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Randy was born in Hastings July 11, 1953, to Delmar and Ila (Henninger) Tjarks. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in May 1971. He married Sherry Coxbill on July 14, 1973. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Douglas, Michael, and Jennifer.

Randy farmed with his in-laws, Duane and Verna Coxbill, until they retired. Then Randy worked for 22 years for Aurora COOP at the Edgar’s Sedan branch.

Randy was preceded in death by his father; in-laws, Duane and Verna Coxbill; sister-in-law, Betsy Tjarks; brother-in-law, Kenny Adams; and son-in-law, K.B. Volz.

Survivors include his wife Sherry Tjarks of Edgar; mother, Ila Tjarks of Hastings; children and spouses: Doug Tjarks of Overland Park, KS, Mike and Tracy Tjarks of Kearney, and Jenifer Stratton and Robbey Willicott of Fairfield; grandchildren: Devin, Alexis, and Lanie Tjarks of Overland Park, KS, Ethan Albus of Kearney, Lori Tjarks of Kearney, Shyanne and Kieran Graf of Ravenna, Bradn and Jessica Stratton of Fairfield; great-granddaughter, Krisan Graf of Ravenna; siblings and spouses: Steve and Karen Tjarks, Terry Tjarks, Jackie Tjarks, and Gerry Chapman; sisters-in-law and spouses: Carol Adams, Bonnie and Terry Trausch, Cindy and Mike Rieger; numerous nieces and nephews.
