Robert “Bob” Solway
Robert “Bob” Thomas Solway was born in Aberdeen, WA on Dec. 22, 1957. He passed away May 20, 2024, at his son’s home in Harvard after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob, the beloved son of Miriam and Eli “Jug” Solway, attended high school in Sutton and graduated from Aurora. He later joined the Army from 1980-87, where he was stationed throughout the United States. After his military service, he returned to Sutton. Bob worked as a maintenance supervisor for A-1 Fiberglass for 20 years and retired from driving trucks for Van Kirk Bros. Contracting due to cancer. He was also a member of the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. Bob had a passion for playing ball, fishing, hunting, golf, and playing cards with his friends and family.
His true passion was fishing with his best friend, Jerry, at their childhood spot.
Bob is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kelli Solway, of Sutton; children: Chris (Bethann) Bicknase of Oregon, Kevin (Reagan) Bicknase of Harvard, Dakota Solway of Sutton, Natalie (Brendan) Solway of Louisville, and Catherine Solway of Sutton; sisters: Deb (Jim) Jones of Sutton, Rene Maroney of California, and Penny Skalka of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on June 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Sutton Community Center. Food will be provided.
