Diane was born Nov. 7, 1941, to Charles and Evelyn (Watson) Flickinger in Levy, AR. During her childhood she lived in many places, from Portland, OR, where her parents both worked at the World War II shipyards, to various Nebraska towns as her father ministered as a Methodist pastor. After graduating from Shickley High School, she attended Doane College in Crete.

In 1959, Diane met Donald Schroetlin at a local dance hall. They were married in Shickley in 1960 then settled in Sutton. Ted’s Hiway Service and Café, and the trucking business, Schroetlin Tank Line, Inc. kept both Don and Diane busy. After retirement in 1990, they wintered in Arizona. Diane enjoyed playing golf, quilting, ceramics, card playing, Laughlin trips, and spending time with family. In 2018, Sun City West became their permanent home.

Diane’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and positivity. Even if she was sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for others. As a mom, she made life an adventure. As a wife, she was the social organizer and supportive in every way.

Faith played an important part of Diane’s life and kept her strong. She was a member of the Sutton Federated Church and Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, Sun City West, AZ. Volunteering included sandwich making for homeless veterans, church bulletin and letter mailings, and helping the church wherever she could.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Evelyn Flickinger; daughter, Brenda Thompson; and foster sister, Betty Wood.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Connie (Ted) Dolezal, Debra Adams, Dee (Michael) Van Donselaar; son, Jacob (Celeste) Schroetlin; six grandchildren, Casey Beechum, Alex Van Donselaar, Lydia Martinez all of Arizona, Katie Van Donselaar of Nebraska, Maddison Schroetlin of New Mexico, Creighton Thompson of Colorado; three great-grandchildren, William Schroetlin, Kennedy Van Donselaar, and Gianna Beechum; sisters, Joanne Stahr and Jeanne Johnson; brother, Bill Flickinger; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Toben; Judy Good; Janie Wenzl; and Terri Fisher.
