Duane Allen Schrock, born Aug. 1, 1943, in Geneva, the son of Donald and Lucille (Mussman) Schrock, passed away Dec. 13, 2024, in Lincoln. He graduated from Shickley High School in 1961. Duane and Mary met in high school and soon became high school sweethearts. Duane married Mary E. Neuhaus Feb. 16, 1963, a devoted family man, husband, and father. His career journey took him from farming in Clay County to Kearney, when the family moved there in 1984 and he purchased the Midway Liquor Store. He later worked at Walmart from where he retired. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Kearney and the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to his lovely yard and beautiful flower garden was noteworthy, some weeks he even mowed his lawn three times. Duane was an avid sports fan, a camper, golfer, painter, and was known for coaching his children’s softball teams. In 2023, he moved to Lincoln, to be closer to his family, which was his utmost priority. He never missed an opportunity to attend his children’s sporting events.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Abby Schrock; sister and brother-in-law, Sharol and Donald Griess.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Schrock; children, Pamela (Rodney) Young, Mary Jo (Tom) Roemmich all of Lincoln, Steven (Tracy) Schrock of Hastings, Tracy Space of Kearney, and Erin (Randall) Adam of Windsor, CO; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and sister, Sharon (Bob) Ebert of Hastings, and numerous other family and friends.

A rosary will be held for Duane Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street, Lincoln. This will be followed by a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at the same venue.
