Sutton’s Stampede Boosters provide big hand

When organizers of the newly formed Sutton Boosters Club set out to form the organization prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year, the ultimate goal, according to club president, Jeremy Robinson, “this is all an effort to work with the school district to enhance the culture for our students across the board.”

As the school year came to a close this past Thursday, May 16, Sutton athletic director, Steve Ramer, summurized his thoughts regarding the impact left by the booster club as, “phenominal.”

“We now are able to get things for our students and staff that we as a district never would have imagined getting,” Ramer shared.

“I’ve been in the role of an athletic director for over 25 years at Sutton and other districts, and the support that this community, and the booster club is like no other that I’ve ever seen, or that our students and our activities have ever benefited from.”

During the first year of the organization, the positive impact left by the generosity of those supporting the booster club, and ultimately the school district’s activities has been, as Ramer shared, “phenominal.”

Throughout the year, the organization has purchased the following:

• 10 shoulder pads for the junior high football program ($950);

• 20 practice volleyballs for the high school and junior high programs ($899);

• Five parachutes and two harnesses for the track program ($290);

• A follow spotlight for the theater department ($680);

• Two piano benches for the music department ($160);

• A “Cricut Explore vinyl starter kit to use for posters and other visual aids for the district ($267);

• Four “heavy basketballs” for the girls basketball program ($168);

• Three KBA Defender machines for the basketball program ($255);

• 10 Cliff Keen headgear for the Mustangs’ wrestling program ($430);

• A competition wrestling mat ($9,800, the booster club covered $3,264 of the cost);

• Basketball shooting machine ($6,482, the booster club covered $2,158 of the cost);

• Endzone camera for football ($6,400, the booster club covered $2,131 of the cost);

• The booster club assisted with the purchase of uniforms for the 2024-25 season for the junior high boys and girls basketball teams, with 26 sets of jerseys and shorts being supported with a $5,460 boost from the club;

• A new tent for the Sutton track teams at a cost of $2,600;

• Five new imprinted Titleist golf bags, along with six pull carts, and 50 dozen imprinted Pro V golf balls for the golf teams at a cost of $8,000;

• Girls basketball logo imprinted basketballs ($486);

• A conductors stand ($600);

• A shop vac for the wrestling program ($200).

Ramer added, “thanks to the generosity of those that support the booster club, and ultimately our staff and students through their greatly appreciated donations, we’ve been able to enhance all of our activities at Sutton.”
