Harvard resident Marlene Faye Haseloh, 93, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at Harvard House in Harvard.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Harvard United Methodist Church in Harvard with Pastor Dorothy Aspegren and Pastor Dan Albers officiating. Burial took place in the Harvard Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Harvard United Methodist Church or St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Marlene was born July 28, 1930, in Bonesteel, SD to William and Margaret (Lafrenz) Esterling. She moved to Hastings in 1944 and graduated from Hastings High School in 1948. On November 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Haseloh and they made their home in Harvard where they opened Don’s Café. After selling the café, Marlene stayed home raising their three children, Connie, Carmen, and Richard.

In 1972, she went to work at the Harvard Rest Haven as a nurse aide for the next 20 years, before retiring. Marlene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 73-year member of Alan Jones VFW Auxiliary, a longtime member of the Methodist Women’s church group, a member of Eastern Star, and served as a board member of the Harvard Library.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Haseloh; daughter, Connie Haseloh; parents, William and Margaret Esterling; and brother, Bill Esterling.

Survivors include daughter Carmen (Ron) Novak; son Richard (Deb) Haseloh; grandchildren:Michelle (Andrew) Madison, Shanna Fayle, Michael Haseloh, Cody (Ashley) Phillips; great-grandchildren: Hudson, Haleigh, Della, Anna, Colton, Mason, and Cora.
