Seniors Jake Dane and Logan Sanders led the Sandy Creek golf team to a first-place finish at the Sandy Creek Pentad five-team meet at the Crooked Creek Country Club, Tuesday April 2.
It proved to be the Cougars first competative action of the 2024 season, as the Superior Invitational, which was to be March 26, was called off due to weather, but when Sandy Creek got into competative mode, they did it right, holding a six-stroke win over Sutton, 175-181 at the end of the ninehole outing.
Dane and Sanders helped the Cougars to tie for the top spot with Sutton’s Jadyn Friesen, as all three carded scores of 41.
Then Keaton Corman and Sutton’s Harrison Herndon both finished with scores of 44 for fourth place finishes overall.
Connor Rempe on the day would shoot a 49 and Mason Hinrich shooting a 55.
TEAM SCORES: Sandy Creek 175, Sutton 181, Fillmore Central 199, Superior 205, Lawrence-Nelson 216.
