The season-opening Doane University indoor track and field meet earned the Sutton track teams a trio of medals, as the March 15 meet brought home one individual medal, with sophomore Keith Kliewer placing fourth in the 800-meter run, while both the girls and boys 4x400-meter relay teams medaled.
Kliewer’s fourth place finish in the 800-meter run came with a time of two minutes, 17.6 seconds, with the event title going to Thomas Birch of Grand Island Central Catholic with a gold medal time of 2:13.31.
The Fillies team of Reagan Robinson, Madylinn Bautista, Jadlynn Kinney, and Kaci Yost placed fifth overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:39.74.
Bishop Neumann ran away with the event title with a time of 4;28.72, beating a time of 4:31.67 turned in by Tri County for second place in the event.
On the boys side of the race, Sutton placed sixth overall with a time of 3:55.32. Making up the relay for the Mustangs was Kliewer, Cole Baumert, Creighton Jones, and Payton Reed.
Bishop Neumann also won the boys relay with a time of 3:38.85, edging out second place Wilber-Clatonia’s time of 3:41.05.
