Clay Center resident Lee Craig Peshek, 70, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at his son’s home near Fairfield. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, with Pastor Arick Johanson and Clayton Peshek officiating. Interment followed at the Clay Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www.mclaughlinchapel. com.

Lee was born June 29, 1953, in Hastings to Jack and Ruth (Lance) Peshek.

Lee attended Wolfe Country School near Fairfield and later graduated from Clay Center High School. Lee began working at the US Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center part-time when he was 17, and soon after was hired full-time. Here, he met his lifelong love and married Allyson (Trenchard) Peshek, on Febr. 25, 1984. He later retired from USMARC in 2018, after 45 years.

Lee was passionately involved in the outdoors and shared it with his friends and family. He taught 4H shooting sports for over 25 years, taught trapping lessons to young outdoorsmen, and loved visiting with anyone who crossed his path. Lee loved being involved in local events such as Old Trusty, Oregon Trail Rodeo, the county fair, or a good local auction.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Jack Peshek; mother, Ruth Peshek; and older brother, Ralph Peshek.

Lee is survived by his wife, Allyson Peshek; son, Clayton (Rebecca) Peshek; son, Brett Peshek; brothers, Wayne (Deanna) Peshek, Alan (Sandra) Peshek; sister, Lynn Beahm; grandsons, Emmett and Owen Peshek; and 24 nephews and nieces.
