Diane Salmon, age 70, of Stockham, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, in Aurora.

Funeral Services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Stockham Community Church in Stockham. Pastors Murray Jones and Clayton Kliewer officiated. Interment was in Stockham Cemetery. Diane Fae Salmon was born Nov. 8, 1953, in Henderson to Albert J. and Mary (Mierau) Kliewer. On Aug. 6, 1976, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Salmon in Stockham and to this union two children were born. Diane attended K-8 at the Stockham School and graduated in 1972 from Henderson High School.

Diane was a lifelong Stockham resident and a member of the Stockham Community Church. She was involved in many leadership roles at the church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a member of Stockham Ladies Ministries. She also spent many years coordinating Daffodil Days with the American Cancer Society.

Diane was a master jigsaw puzzler and loved playing board games. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, crafting, and baking. Most of all she loved attending the many activities of her grandchildren, when she could.

Diane’s most important job in life was raising her two children. During that time, she worked as a housekeeper for several families. Diane worked many years as assistant director at the Hamilton County Senior Center and in the kitchen at Aurora Public Schools, until she was forced to retire in 2015 due to health issues.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Lonnie of Stockham; daughter Kerry (Randy) Slaymaker of Kearney; son Colt (Jasmin) Salmon of Sutton; three grandchildren: Kensley and Kaden Slaymaker of Kearney and Zoe Salmon of Sutton; two sisters, Linette (Murray) Jones of Holdrege and Carol (David) Holl of Kearney; two brothers, Orin (Janet) Kliewer of Aurora, and Berdon (Vivian) Kliewer of Stockham; two sisters-in-law, Helen Kliewer of Stockham and Mickey Kliewer of Wymore; three brothers-in-law, Doug (Karen) Tessman, Richard (Cheryl) Heftie of Stockham and Dennis (Vicki) Salmon of Hastings; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Arlyce Heftie and Olene Tessman; brothers, Roy Kliewer and Marlin Kliewer; and nephew, Dale Heftie.
