Sutton resident Louisa Griess, 97, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Legacy Square in Henderson.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment followed at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com. Louisa was born July 28, 1926, to Waldemar and Margaretha (Griess) Huber near Lushton, NE. Louisa loved to play the organ and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louisa was a member of the Free German Reformed Salem Church. Louisa was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; brothers, Ben and Gideon; sisters, Ruth and Helen; son-in-law, Dan Softley and former husband, Ewald T. Griess.

Louisa is survived by her children, Susan Griess of Lincoln; Arlene Softley of Grafton, and Wayne (Joy) Griess of Grafton; grandchildren, Tiffany (Sean) McGill and Farren (Cody) Heller; step-grandchildren, Jaylynn Jensen; Ashley (AJ) Spawn and Micah Moulin; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Johanna Cody; sisters-in-law, Doris (Hilmer) Huber; Dorothey Griess and Marie Huber; step-sister-in-law, Leona (Lester) Bangert; step-brother-in-law, Gary (Angela) Griess and numerous nieces and nephews.
