During the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference in Grand Island April 10-12, Sandy Creek junior Cedric Oeltjen was named the runner-up in Automotive Service Technology, and received a $400 set of Snap-n ratcheting wrenches.
Sandy Creek had 47 members in SkillsUSA this year, with 38 of them representing SC at the state conference.
Members competed in a variety of competitions, including: Automotive Service Technology, Basic Healthcare Skills, Early Childhood Education, Medical Terminology, Cosmetology, Photography, Crime Scene Investigation, Welding Sculpture, Carpentry, Computer Programming, Collision Repair Technology, Welding, Related Technical Math, and Diesel Equipment Technology.
While the scores beyond third place have not been disclosed yet, several students feel like they performed well and received good scores in their respective competitions.
SC SkillsUSA sponsor Spencer Schoof said, “As we wind down and look back on the year, the kids will remember their accomplishments and the fun they had. Which will give us all the motivation and excitement to look forward to next year and make it that much more successful!”
