Friesen leads Mustangs group of 3 medalists with individual title at Fillmore Central Invite
Sutton senior Jadyn Friesen led a trio of medalists for the Mustangs during action at the Fillmore Central Invitational, played on Geneva’s Hidden Hills Country Club Tuesday, April 15.
Friesen, behind a strong front nine score of 36, came in to finish the tournament with a back nine 41 to lay claim to the individual gold medal with an 18-hole 77, to win the title by six strokes over Heartland’s Creighton Friesen, who finished with an 83.
Friesen’s title also spurred the Mustangs to the team title as well, as Sutton outscored Deshler and Heartland by 26 total strokes, as Sutton shot a 346, while the Dragons and Huskies finished play in a tie at 372.
Seniors Aidan Jones and Harrison Herndon also medaled in the top 10, as Jones finished with an 86, shooting scores of 49 on the front nine before shaving off 12 strokes on the back nine, to card a 37 on the backside to place fourth overall.
Herndon placed eighth in the final standings with an 88, scoring a 43 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine holes of play.
Rounding out the field for Sutton were David Fonseca with a 95 and Billy Marshall with a 117. Fonseca shot a 45 on the front and a 50 on the back, while Marshall had a 51 on the front and a 66 on the back.
