Students from Sandy Creek, Sutton Public, Sutton Christian, and Doniphan-Trumbull participated in the annual INVENTURE Day March 18, at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Youth learn about being an entrepreneur and what it takes to start their own business, with the help of mentors from the community and nearby UNL Extension offices. Broken up into groups, students worked on a product they then presented to two judges. Once the 12 groups presented, the judges picked their overall product/group and the students picked their favorite product. Above, the judges’ pick were from Doniphan-Trumbull and included Payten Dymek, Mason Knott, Bently Henderson, and Reid Vrooman. Their community member was Jason Tuller, pictured at the right, from Nebraska Extension in Thayer/Nuckolls Counties. Below, the fan favorite of the day was a group from Sutton, including Conner Aspegren, Brooks Ebert, Kayonn Weaver, AJ Smith, Kaden Fielder, and Aurther Bautista. Their community mentor was Justin VonSpreckelsen, pictured at the left, from Cornerstone Bank in Clay Center.
