Training the next generation

Training the next generation
Members of the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department got some training time on Saturday morning, with a house burn. After lighting the house, firefighters were able to train on controlling the flames, putting them out, and seeing how fire and smoke react in such a situation. Above, firefighters sit in the doorway of the house waiting for the flames to build up, while at the left, booter firefighter Travis Moore, with the help of his dad, Chris, pushes the flames back that have built up in the doorway. A booter firefighter is someone who is not old enough to officially be on the department, but can participate in trainings and attend meetings with current members of a department. There are currently two booters on Sutton’s department. TRACEY LANDENBERGER | CLAY COUNTY NEWS
