The Sandy Creek Cougars charted a dominating win on Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the first round of the class C2-9 sub-district tournament against Amherst, blasting the Broncos 57-33.
It seemed like Sandy Creek’s focus was on securing rebounds during the game, effectively preventing Amherst from obtaining any second-chance opportunities.
Additionally, by consistently capturing their offensive rebounds, Sandy Creek created multiple scoring chances for themselves.
Sandy Creek’s defense was physical yet clean, avoiding fouls while forcing Amherst to shoot late in the shot clock, leading to defensive stops for the Cougars.
Sandy Creek had two players achieve a double-double in the game, with Ethan Shaw scoring 18 points while gaining 11 rebounds, and Wes Biltoft contributed 13 points and an amazing 18 rebounds.
Additionally, Kamerin Sealey and Jack Clark each scored nine points, and Evan Swartzendruber added eight points for the Cougars.
