Fairfield Fire, Rescue fundraiser is Saturday

Fairfield’s Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s annual fundraiser has been set and will feature three special guests, along with some Husker volleyball and football athletes.

Everything begins early Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Fairfield Fire Hall, with a health fair from 7-10 a.m., with pancakes being served from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

Hashbrown Hour will be from 9:43-10:43 a.m.; it is freewill donation.

Beginning at 4 p.m., a pork sandwich meal will be served—the meal costs $7 with an extra sandwich cost $3.

Special guests Brenden Stai, Damon Benning, and Adam Carriker—former Husker football and NFL players—will be signing autographs from 4:30-5 p.m., and having “A Conversation” with attendees from 5-6:30 p.m.

Meet the Huskers will go from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will include volleyball players Rebekah Allick and Andi Jackson, and football players Jayln Gramstad and Luke Lindenmeyer.

The live auction, hosted by auctioneer Bruce McDowell, begins at 6:30 p.m.

Items include a 30/30 gun, gun safe, autographed volleyball items, signed items by Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer, Jason Peter and Cory Schlesinger autographed jerseys, farm items, kids Bobcat power wheel, and more.

An online auction opened Feb. 10 and will be open until 6 p.m., Feb. 21 at www. tricityauctioncenter.hibid. com. There are a variety of historical, Husker, and home decor, items, among many other items.

There will also be a prize for the oldest and youngest attendees and the furthest away attendee.

The gun raffle includes a Ruger AR-556 Semi-Auto and Savage Axis II XP 22-250.

Tickets are $10 with a limited number available to and will be sold prior and on the day of the feed.

Another raffle will include gift card prizes—$500 for first; $250 for second; and $100 for third. Tickets are $1.

All proceeds from this event will go toward the fire department’s equipment and ongoing training.
