Harvard/Giltner wrestling season comes to close at D-1 district meet

The 2024-25 wrestling season for Harvard/Giltner came to a final stand over the past weekend, as the four challengers for H/G fell short of extending their seasons for another week at the 2025 Nebraska State Wrestling championships in Omaha.

Pedro Perez, Brexten Kobza, and Kyle Knueven came two matches short of a bid to Omaha in their respective weight classes. Perez, wrestling in the 106-pound class, and Kobza, wrestling in the 132-pound weight class, both earned one win in three matches, while Knueven went 2-2 in the 165-pound class.

Perez opened with a tough 3:48 tech fall loss to Korbin Druery of Anselmo-Merna before gaining a 3:15 tech fall win over Thayer Central’s Aiden Degenhardt, with Michael Hunter of Burwell ending Perez’ season with a 3:40 pinfall loss to end his season with a 13-22 record.

Kobza opened with a 3:09 pinfall loss, then gained a 2:01 pinfall win over Travin Schauda of Twin Loup. East Butler’s Kale Glasshoff edged Kobza 3-2 in the second round of the consolation bracket to end his season with a 13-23 record.

Kenueven’s weekend began with a 4:48 tech fall win over Paxton Bierman of South Loup, but Sandy Creek’s Rowan Jarosik earned a 1:31 tech fall win over the H/G senior.

In the consolation bracket, Knueven pinned Jayleb Guthrie of Thayer Central in 2:38 becore Garrett Hasenauer of Twin Loup ended Knueven’s season with a 15-4 major decision win, ending the H/G senior’s season with a 19-20 record.

Alexander Perera-Kunovsky, also wrestling in the 165-pound weight class, fell short of a win to end his season at 6-22.
