An afternoon of axes, flowers & fun
What a combination—axes, flowers, balloons, and music?
Clay Center’s Three Pink Elephants hosted a community event for a few hours Saturday, Feb. 8, which included an axe throwing demonstration—outside—presented by Daniel Kerl and Anthony Tolen.
Attendees who wanted to try their skill at axe throwing had an opportunity. A one-on-one basic instruction was taught by Kerl and Tolen to to prepare the new thrower for their debut.
Spectators watched and cheered for the newest axe throwing student as they completed the challenge.
An unusual activity that was a hit with the kids and a few adults, was the balloon room.
What exactly is a balloon room pink elephant style? It is a room filled with assorted sizes and colors of pink, white, purple, and red balloons.
The participants could walk, bounce, shuffle, throw, and even hide under the balloons for a fun activity. For those who wanted a make their own flower bouquet, there was a flower bar with tulips, roses, carnations, stock flowers, and greenery.
Amazingly simple to assemble by selecting one flower stem or a variety of flowers for a pop of color, add some greenery behind the flowers, wrap in decorative paper and a beautiful bouquet was constructed.
Music filled the air inside the business as Kerl entertained the customers with his saxophone. Some of the listeners broke out dancing to a couple of songs.
The customers enjoyed the atmosphere by engaging in conversations with each other. Some people were acquaintances and long-time community friends, while others made new friends. All-in-all, a terrific way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
