A pair of dominating wins over Ravenna and Fairbury propelled the Sutton Fillies to a 12-4 overall record last week. Sutton crushed Ravenna 57-28 on the road, before returning home to the Sutton Dome to roll past the Fairbury Jeffs, 69-33.
At Ravenna, the Fillies, despite shooting a sluggish 28 percent from three-point range, jumped out to an 18-5 first-quarter lead, and maintained the 13-point edge at halftime with a 25-12 lead.
It was a second-half 3316 run that produced the 29-point win over Ravenna to gain their 11th win of the season.
Miranda Nuss paced Sutton with 14 points, while Avery Smith hit for 11, Kyla Griess, nine, and Isabella Trejo, seven, to lead the Fillies.
Overall Sutton was 22-56 from the floor (39.3%), and hit on six of eight foul shots (75%).
Kamryn Steinhauer, Jacee Haight, and Kaci Yost led on the glass, with Steinhauer gaining five rebounds, while Haight and Yost both had fourth.
Griess led the team in steals and assists, gaining five steals and six assists in the win.

Sutton returned to their home court Thursday, Jan. 23 to take on Southern Nebraska Conference foe, Fairbury, and the Fillies let the Jeffs know they meant business. After a 9-7 first quarter lead, Sutton outscored the Jeffs 19-10 in the second to claim a 28-17 lead at the break.
The Fillies nearly doubled their first-half scoring in the third quarter alone with a 27-12 scoring spree to take a 55-29 lead into the fourth quarter, where a 14-4 Sutton surge earned them the 69-33 win.
Sutton shot just over 43 percent in the win, sinking 23 of 53 shots overall, while draining 15 of 21 foul shots (71.4%).
Nuss and Trejo paced the Fillies’ effort with 12 points in a game that would see 10 girls score.
Avery Smith added nine, Robinson, eight, while Jadlynn Kinney and Griess both chipped in with seven each.
Steinhauer again led the rebounding charts with five, while Haight and Yost grabbed four each.
Griess again led the Fillies with six assists and five steals.

The Fillies will be the fifth seed in the SNC tournament next week, where they will host Wilber-Clatonia in the first round beginning at 6 p.m. on the Fillies’ home court, Monday, Feb. 3.
