Sutton girls win 7th straight with 31-point victory over McCool Junction
After claiming the Osceola Holiday Tournament title, the Sutton Fillies kept their winning ways alive Friday, Jan. 3. Behind the strength of nine players scoring and a strong defensive effort, Sutton rolled past the McCool Junction Mustangs 75-44, to improve to 7-2 on the season. Four players reached double figures, led by Jadlynn Kinney with 19 and Kyla Griess
with 18. Two others hit double figures as well, with Avery Smith scoring 11 and Jacee Haight, 10. The Fillies flew to a 37-22 halftime lead and outscored McCool 38-22 in the second half to record the 31-point victory to start the 2025 portion of their season.
Sutton put up 64 total shots in the win, making 25 (39.1%), while sinking 13 of 17 foul shots (76.5%).
Defensively, Sutton held McCool to just 43 shots on goal, making 17 (39.5%), while going just 9-13 at the foul line (69.2%).
Kaci Yost and Kamryn Steinhauer led the team on the glass, with Yost pulling down nine rebounds, and Steinhauer seven. Haight and Griess gained five boards each, while Kinney grabbed three.
Griess and Yost dished out four assists, each, while Yost and Robinson both had three steals in the win.
