Jack Cox is a staple not only in the Edgar community, but also the Edgar American Legion.

His efforts, service, and commitment have not gone unnoticed, as on Monday, Cox was recognized for 50 years as a member of the American Legion. At an earlier part of his membership, he took over adjutant, serving as the record-keeper for the Legion.

Along with his 50-year membership to the Legion, he also served 21 years in the Air Force.

He was in Stead AFB Reno, NV, 1954-56; Offutt AFB NE, 1956-60; Wahiawa, HI, 1960-63; March AFB CA, 1963-65, Lajes AB Azores, 1965-67, Richards Gebaur KC, MO, 1967-69, and Jack Udorn AB Thailand, 196970.

During the presentation of the pin and certificate at his home in Edgar, Cox said the last 50 years have gone by awfully fast, and he’s seen many Legion and Auxiliary members come and go.
