For the week ending Oct. 20, there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 47 percent very short, 39 percent short, 14 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.

Subsoil moisture supplies rated 41 percent very short, 39 percent short, 20 percent adequate, and 0 percent surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn maturity was 98 percent, near 99 percent last year and 97 percent for the five-year average. Harvested was 63 percent, ahead of 57 percent last year and 51 percent average.

Soybeans harvested was 85 percent, ahead of 79 percent last year and 80 percent average.

Winter wheat condition rated 5 percent very poor, 19 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 34 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.

Winter wheat emerged was 77 percent, behind 88 percent last year and 82 percent average.

Sorghum condition rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 28 percent excellent.

Sorghum maturity was 97 percent, near 98 percent last year and 95 percent average. Harvested was 57 percent, ahead of 49 percent both last year and average.

Dry edible beans harvested was 93 percent, near 89 percent last year and 91 percent average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 37 percent very poor, 20 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 14 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.
