The Sutton Fillies dropped their fifth match in a row during the consolation bracket play in Milford Tuesday, Oct. 15, as the Centennial Broncos claimed a 29-27, 21-25, 25-20 win over the Fillies, to set Sutton at 10-17 going into the final week of the regular season.
The Broncos’ win gives Centennial their second win over the Fillies in three matches this season.
Sutton served at a 91.8 percent rate, converting on 67 of 73 attempts, while gaining seven aces.
Jacee Haight and Kayden Kauk had two aces each, Kyla Griess, Avery Smith, and Dyvet Fonseca gained one each.
On the attack, Katie Baldwin and Haight combined for 27 of Sutton’s 36 kills, with Baldwin gaining 17 and Haight, 10.
Sutton hit .103 while converting on 124 of 145 hitting attempts (85.5%).
Smith continued on her perfect season as the Fillies setter, as she was 107-107 with 30 assists. Smith, for the season, is 1,925-1,925 setting the ball Avery Smith sets the ball for Miranda Nuss during the SNC tournament- opener against Sandy Creek at Superior Monday, Oct. 14.
with 609 assists.
Defensive leaders in the loss proved to be Kaci Yost and Miranda Nuss with two blocks each, while Griess led in digs with 26, Yost gained 10, Fonseca, eight, Kauk, eight, and Smith, seven.
