Gretchen Hueftle has been serving as the Harvard Rest Haven and Harvard House Assisted Living administrator for almost a year, having taken over in December 2023.
Backed by more than 20 years of experience in Skilled Nursing Care and Assisted Living, Hueftle has a Master’s Degree in Education and dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Sociology—both from the University of Nebraska.
Her career has been rather diverse, including teaching high school, working at the Department of Education, and working for the Department of Health and Human Services by managing abuse and neglect cases.
From there, she transitioned to nursing home care, where Hueftle said she found immensely rewarding.
Since joining the HRH/ HHAL, they have made many significant upgrades, including the installation of a new underground pipe system and 12 HEPA Air Filter Systems, greatly enhancing the facility’s infrastructure and air quality.
Additionally, state surveyors have praised their caring staff and home-like environment, while many residents had expressed to her and staff about their satisfaction with living at Harvard Rest Haven.
“I truly value the warmth and community spirit of Harvard,” Hueftle said.
She and her husband reside in Central City; they are blessed with two children and five grandchildren.
