Eilene Faye Miles, 80, of Waxahachie, TX died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, with Pastor Kim Dunker officiating. Interment will follow at the Clay Center Cemetery in Clay Center. Visitation will be Monday, from noon until the start of the service. Condolences may be left at www. mclaughlinchapel.com Eilene was born Sept. 5, 1944, to Earl and Audrey (Skinner) Fitzke in Fairfield. She graduated from high school in Fairfield and married Gary Miles Dec. 12, 1961, in Clay Center. They lived in Clay Center, moving to Ocean Beach, CA, returning to Nebraska to live in Fairfield, Hastings, and Papillion, before moving to Waxahachie, TX. She was a member of J Bar C Cowboy Church of Palmer TX.

Eilene enjoyed a variety of jobs over the years, most notably serving as a member of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and as Ambulance Captain for 12 years. She learned sign language and worked with Educational Service Unit #9 for 10 years, working with preschool and special needs children. Eilene also managed the Miracle Ear Office in Hastings and served in various jobs that allowed her to meet and care for people, including her last job, welcoming customers and giving free samples at H-E-B supermarket in TX. Eilene enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She loved to cook and bake, always trying new recipes, making cakes for special events, and making Christmas plates for neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed painting, embroidery and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Gary; sons, Robert (Marcy) of Omaha, and Larry (Janice) of Modesto, CA; daughter, Angela (Jimmy) Wilks of Red Oak, TX; sister, Jo Ann (Jeff) Prosser of State College, PA; brother, William (Mary) Fitzke of Sun Lakes, AZ; sister-in-law, Linda Miller; grandchildren, Cory (Nancy) Miles, Ashley Miles, Andrew Klabanos, Evan (Haley) Miles, Tyler (Racheal) Masterson, Jeremy (Heather) Masterson, Brandon (Audrey) Masterson; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Doris Miles; sisters, Betty Redinger and Shirley Borrell; brothers-in-law, Dean Redinger; Arthur Borrell Sr.; and Clarence “Bud” Miles; sisterin-law, Judy Miles; son-in-law, Eston Masterson; and one great-grandchild.
