Trumbull resident Gene C. Arnold, 95, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at College View Assisted Living, Hastings.

A Celebration of Life was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Trumbull Christian Church in Trumbull, with Pastor Andrew Wood and Chaplain Zach Brueningsen officiating. Memorials may be given to Trumbull Christian Church or Crossroads. The service was recorded on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Gene was born Feb. 21, 1929, to Ray Sr. and Matilda (Giger) Arnold at home in Trumbull. He graduated from Trumbull High School in 1946. Gene married Helen Versaw Feb. 24, 1951, and to this union, seven children were born.

Corporal Gene C. “Hev” Arnold faithfully served his nation from 1951 to 1953 in the United States Marine Corps and deployed in 1952 to Korea as part of the Korean War.

Gene returned home to Nebraska and worked with his brothers to farm and raise his family. Gene notably served his community as a Clay County Supervisor from 1980 to 2008. He remained a faithful member of the Trumbull Christian Church congregation until his passing. Gene participated in many mission trips to New York, Africa, Mexico, Louisiana, North Carolina, and numerous others with his wife.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Trumbull; children and spouses: Jo Stolle of Grand Island, Jeff and Susan Arnold of Pocahontas, IA, Craig and Kim Arnold of Trumbull, Jan and Randy Dye of Grand Island, Randy and Jill Arnold of Cozad, Brian and Lauri Arnold of Trumbull, and Melody and Tim Guerino of Falling Waters, WV; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Arnold of Trumbull; sister and spouse, Darlene McWhirter and Bob Hinrichs of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Carol Littleton of CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
