Harms joins 2013 Midland volleyball in being inducted into 2023 Warrior Hall of Fame

Even seven years removed from competitive college volleyball, Ashlee Harms and her 2013 teammates on the 2013 Midland University volleyball team are still remembered as the volleyball team that put Warrior volleyball on the map.

Even seven years removed from competitive college volleyball, Ashlee Harms and her 2013 teammates on the 2013 Midland University volleyball team are still remembered as the volleyball team that put Warrior volleyball on the map.

That team was inducted into the Midland University’s Warrior Hall of Fame in a ceremony held during Homecoming festivities Friday, Oct. 20.

Harms is a 2012 graduate of Sandy Creek High School, and a Glenvil native, where her parents, Dan and Kim still live.

That team, finished the season with a 37-5 record, advanced to the NAIA National Quarterfinal round, making it the only team in program history to advance to the national quarterfinals According to Harms, “that team was special. It was my sophomore year in the program, and I remember that we were all really bummed out when we didn’t make the national tournament, so I really think that just fueled this team to have the success that we had in 2013. It really was a special team, and we were so tight-knit.”

Harms added, “We had a 22-game winning streak, and to be honest, I knew after a match with Mid-American Nazarene early that season Harms, who is now the Human Rescources director for TMCO, a metal fabricating operation in Lincoln. Harms has been with the operation since graduating from Midland University in 2016.

HARMS’ STORIED ATHLETIC CAREER

Harms, had a storied volleyball and basketball career with Sandy Creek, where she was on volleyball teams that had a combined 94 wins, against just 27 losses, and gained a Class C-2 state runner- up finish in 2009, as well as placing fourth in Class C-2 in 2010.

In basketball, Harms led teams that won state championships in Class C-2 in 2010, and in Class C-1 in 2012, as well as placing third in 2011 in Class C-1.

In her time at Midland, she played in 142 total matches, including the 2013 season where she would play in a career high 42 matches.

Combined, she had 1,205 kills, and 391 blocks. On the 2013 team alone, Harms had 345 kills, 21 solo blocks and 112 assisted blocks, and was tied for second place in the GPAC conference.

Her personal accolades include, in 2013: All-Nebraska NAIA Volleyball first team, and a first team All-GPAC selection.

In 2014, Harms was again an All-GPAC selection, an NAIA Daktronics scholar-athlete, an All-Nebraska NAIA Volleyball first team selection, and she was named to the ACVA NAIA All-West Central Region team, in addition to being named a third team All-American in the NAIA.

During her senior year, Harms received six postseason honors, including: a first team All-GPAC selection, being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, being named to the ACVA NAIA West Central All-Region team, she was an NAIA All-American honorable mention selection, an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete, and an All-Nebraska NAIA Volleyball first team selection.

Harms noted that she is still actively playing volleyball in leagues in the Lincoln area.
