George’s 66 is getting a face lift

After about four years of discussions and making and changing plans, George’s 66 in Sutton is being remodeled.

Walking into the station currently, customers will find it mostly empty, as all the aisles of food and other items have been moved to storage while work is completed.

The north wall coolers are stocked and still there for now, until that wall is moved back to help open the room up.

Along with refinishing the walls and knocking one down, the restrooms will be extended a little bit into Subway’s side, making them handicap accessible.

Construction on the building began Monday, being done by Quality Builders of Sutton, with crews knocking out parts of the west wall.

The snacks and drinks familiar to people will go back in the station once construction is finished, with the hope of adding liquor/beer items as well.

Doug George said he’s planning to apply for a liquor license, and should that be approved, there will be a “beer cave” in the center east part of George’s 66, near the conjoining Subway wall.

George also mentioned they are looking into possibly getting Coke products along with Pepsi, but are not 100 percent sure about this decision yet.

Throughout all of this remodel, George said they’re trying to stay open as much as possible, but even if the station needs to close temporarily, the pumps will be open.

For timely updates, George suggests people follow their Facebook page: George Bros. Propane & Fertilizer Corp.
