The Clay County Fair begins next week, July 9-13, at the fairgrounds in Clay Center.
July 9 opens the entryway for 4-H and open class exhibits from 6-8:30 p.m. Exhibits will again be accepted from 8-10 a.m., July 10.
The first 4-H shows begin at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with Rabbit and Poultry, followed by the Bucket Calf Show at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday evening’s big event will be extreme bull riding in front of the grandstands.
Thursday has a slew of events planned, starting with the Swine Show at 8:30 a.m., followed by the open class/4-H Horse Show at noon.
The Rainbow Classic Pet Show starts at 5:30 p.m., with Family Fun Night and Rock It Inflatables opening at 6 until 10 p.m.
Kids can test their skills by entering the tractor pull, in front of the grandstands at 6:30 p.m.
Friday’s events begin strong with the annual 4-H Beef Show at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Sheep/ Meat Goat Show at 1 p.m.
The Round Robin Contest kicks off at 6 p.m., with the Ranch Rodeo Calcutta beginning shortly after at 6:30 p.m.
Friday’s main non-4-H attraction starts at 7 p.m. with the fun Ranch Rodeo, which brings in teams competing in three events.
The final day of the Clay County Fair, July 13, begins with the Cat/Small Animal Show at 9:30 a.m., followed closely by the Beef Fitting Contest at 10:30 a.m.
Round Robin awards will be announced at 2:50 p.m., with the 4-H Livestock Auction and South Central Cattleman BBQ starting at 3 p.m.
Additionally, the Clay County News will be taking 4-H/Open Class ribbon winners’ photos from 1:303:30 p.m., in the Activities Building.
That evening, Figure 8 and Trailer Races jump into action at 6 p.m., in front of the grandstand.
