Parade route changes for EdgarFest; activities begin Friday

Instead of heading south down C Street as usual, the parade will move to 5th Street and go from 5th and C Street west to 5th and F Street.

EdgarFest officially kicks off Friday, June 28 with a cornhole tournament at 5:30 p.m., at The Bar Next Door (314 N C Street). Make sure to register by 3 p.m., June 28, with Michelle at 402-224-1368.

Following the tournament, also at The Bar Next Door, will be karaoke in the beer garden, from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Pit Bull Catering will be serving in the beer garden starting at 5:30 p.m.

EdgarFest activities continue Saturday morning. If you stayed up a bit too late Friday night, or just enjoy a good drink, a bloody mary bar and mimosas will be available at The Bar Next Door from 9-11 a.m. Pit Bull Catering will be in the beer garden for breakfast, dinner, and supper.

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the City Hall Park and Community Building will be full of fun things to do and delicious food to eat.

The JC Bounce Houses will be set up, while in another area, the Sandy Creek Cheerleaders will be doing face painting. Megan’s Kids Corner snow cones, as well as other food vendors, will be available. Attendees can also try their hand at the Roaming Green mini golf course.

A co-ed softball tournament will begin at 10 a.m.; register by 8 a.m., Saturday at 2nd & UP Track Road. The cost is $50 per team, with proceeds going toward the ball park. Contact Mikayla Winter at 785-477-6231.

The Church of the Plains is having a bake sale, also from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; the church is located at 407 N C Street.

At the Community Building, the Edgar Lions Club will be cooking up some pancakes from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

From 1-3 p.m., there will be water olympics at the public pool (704 N A Street), as well as funnel cakes at The Bar Next Door.

The Legion Auxiliary is hosting Bingo at the Legion (505 4th Street), while at the pool park from 3-5 p.m., there will be a foam party.

The Edgar Firemen’s BBQ will be from 5:30-7 p.m., at the Community Building, followed by the annual parade. Line-up is at 7:30 p.m.

Midnight swim at the Edgar Pool will go from 10 p.m.-midnight, with fireworks starting at dark, at the fire hall.

The Kyle Sayler Band will play in the beer garden at The Bar Next Door from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; there is a $10 cover charge and no minors are allowed.
