For the first time since a season-opening 8-0 loss at Sutton, May 22, the South Central Post 256 Junior Legion baseball team got back into action Tuesday, June 11, hosting the Hebron Post 180 Juniors in a doubleheader challenge.
South Central earned a huge 11-1 five-inning win in the opening clash before Hebron battled back to steal a 7-3 victory in the nightcap, to take the Post 256 Juniors to 1-2 on the year.
In the opener, South Central dominated from the onset, leading 1-0 after the first inning, before scoring three in the second and five more in the third to claim a 9-0 lead.
South Central then outscored Hebron 2-1 in the fourth to all but seal the 11-1 win.
Josh Spray held the big bat for South Central, scattering a pair of doubles, while Wyatt Hemberger gained a double and a single while driving in three runs.
Adding to the hit parade was a 2-2 effort by Justin Sharp and Mason Johanson, while Kam Sealey was 1-2, and Dominic Page was 1-3, as South Central outhit Hebron 10-4.
Cody Funk charted the win on the mound, going the distance in the five-inning game. Funk struck out six without giving up a walk. He allowed the four Hebron hits and their lone run.

Game two would see Hebron get the best of the Post 256 Juniors behind a five-run second inning.
Both teams scored one in the first, before Hebron claimed the 6-1 lead after the second frame.
South Central closed the gap to 6-3 in the fourth inning with a pair of runs, before Hebron sealed the win with one-run in the top of the fifth to claim the four run victory.
Both teams gained four hits, with Sealey recording a one-run triple. Sealey also singled in the loss.
Hemberger and Page added singles in the game, as South Central fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Page took the loss on the hill for South Central, as in two and a third innings of work, Page struck out three, while walking two and allowing two Hebron runs on one hit.
In relief, Sharp struck out three, walked three, and allowed five runs on three hits.
