Omaha resident Jon E. Campbell, 74, formerly of Sutton, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, with Rev. Michelle Reed officiating. Private inurnment will be held at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. In honoring his wish to be cremated there will not be a visitation or viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Federated Church in Sutton. Jon was born Dec. 5, 1948, in Hastings to Charles and Iona (Spielman) Campbell. Jon graduated from Sutton Public School in 1967; he then attended Doane College in Crete Nebraska for two years before returning to help with the family farm. He returned to Doane College to continue college and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985. He then returned to farming for a couple of years after his father’s death.

He relocated to Omaha where he used his degree as a lab instructor at UNO and Creighton University. He was also employed with the city of Omaha Water Works plant. Jon was eventually employed with Waters Corporation from which he retired in Omaha.

Jon is survived by his sisters Charlotte Fehr and Marilyn Campbell; his brother-in-law, Ron Fehr; three nephews and their wives; 12 great nephews and nieces, many cousins, and friends in Sutton and Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Iona Campbell; one great nephew, Joseph Riley Fehr and aunts and uncles of the Campbell, Steinhauer and Spielman.
